Dr. Marina Bengoa Roldán

Dr. Marina Bengoa Roldán is a classical concert pianist from Spain. She has extensive performance experience in the United States, Spain, and other European countries in solo piano concerts with orchestra and chamber music.

 

Marina commissioned and premiered worldwide the Fantasia Flamenca by the Spanish composer Pascual Gimeno, who dedicated the work to her.


Dr. Marina Bengoa Roldán is the Assistant Professor of Piano at Eastern New Mexico University. Previously, she taught at Southern Arkansas University. In 2022, she finished her Doctoral studies in Piano Performance at the University of Oregon (USA) under the guidance of Dr. Alexandre Dossin with a full scholarship and assistantship.


Marina received the Outstanding Award in Piano Pedagogy. In 2021, she completed a Master's in Piano Pedagogy under the guidance of Dr. Grace Ho, creating the website spanishpianomusic.org.


She made her orchestral debut in 2013, playing Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in several concert halls in Valencia (Spain) under the direction of Javier Carrau.


In 2016 received a Dean's award from Georgia State University and made her Carnegie Hall debut (New York). As a winner of the Brumby Concerto Competition, she performed Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra under the guidance of Michael Palmer.


Dr. Bengoa Roldán has won numerous prizes in international and national piano
competitions. She has received grants from Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation and DSAC of the University of Oregon. In 2016 and 2017, Marina was awarded The Elżbieta and Krzysztof Krawczyński Fund's scholarship from the Chopin Society of Atlanta, participating in the Paris International Summer Sessions and International Piano Course in Valldemossa (Spain) at the Catedra Chopin.


Apart from her activity as a pianist, Marina regularly presents at national and
international conferences. She gave presentations for the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in 2021 and 2023, ASMTA (Arkansas Music Teachers
Association) in 2023, the Graduate conference at the University of Calgary (Canada) in 2021, Musicking (University of Oregon) in 2021, Catedra Bogota Musical International (Colombia) in 2022, Encuentro de Pianistas (Costa Rica) in 2024 and SHE: Women in Music Festival (University of Arkansas) in 2024.
